Roman Horsemen Tile
The Story Behind the Making of the “Roman Horsemen” Tile:
The process for developing the Roman Horsemen Tile began with an inquiry from the clients. All that remained with the client’s initial project was to pick the styles and colors, after the clients decided to utilize Stone-Revival’s Imperial Tiles at the front entrance of the home as stair risers, in the office, around the fireplace, and in the master bath around the three sided fireplace. The master bath is designed in a Roman style with cultured marble, pillars and a soaking tub overlooking the valley below through hilltop picture windows.
The clients had a piece of free standing art on the side of the soaking tub that depicted Roman horsemen. The clients inquired as to whether Stone-Revival could create a similar scene for her fireplace. The master sculptor, Julian Isaacson, selected a piece of marble and then created a “cartoon” or drawing that had the look and feel the clients were looking for. Following the clients approval of the design, Julian then sculpted the tile in marble using hammer and chisel.
Once completed, Julian molded the marble tile and cast the finished product to match the color scheme for the rest of the tile that will be inlaid around the custom tiles. This represents the process of creating custom functional art for a client’s concept. The original piece can either be added to the portfolio of tiles, or if the clients wish, they can purchase it separately and own it.
Stone-Revival will design and develop a custom “work of art” to meet your exact specifications. Contact Julian Isaacson and Stone-Revival directly to discuss the design and development of your “work of art”.
